Name: "Dahongpao"
Translation: "Big Red Robe"
Whale. 大红袍, pinyin dàhóngpáo
Origin: Wuyi Mountains (Chinese: 武夷山, pinyin wǔyíshān), Fujian Province (Chinese: 福建, pinyin fújiàn), China.
Nowadays, Da Hong Pao is a regional Wuyi brand, which assigns its name to the place of origin and processing technology (roasting). Different varieties of tea bushes can be used as a basis. However, there is information that, at least in the past, limited quantities of tea were collected and made from orthodox ancient bushes. There is a story that in 1972, US President Nixon was given a gift Da Hong Pao , which in 2011 terms would cost $250,000. Despite the fact that there is no confirmation of this myth, it can often be found in Chinese Internet sources.

When dry, the tea has a bright, slightly sweet, but strong aroma. It resembles the taste of black bread crusts and heavily roasted coffee. In the background, a light trail of spices is detected. In a heated teapot made of Yixing clay, the tea acquires the aroma of baked chestnut mixed with notes of smoldering coals of fruit trees. With each brew, Da HongPao 1 "NongXiang" emits a more subtle and fresh aroma that resembles the smell of southern flowers and bitter chocolate.
From the first to the fourth infusion, the taste is subtle, strong, with hints of bread crusts, baked chestnut, weakly brewed coffee with milk. A slight sweetness appears in the mouth after the first sip of tea. By the fourth infusion, hints of herbs and flowers appear in the taste, mixed with notes of smoke. By the 7th infusion, the tea begins to be drunk, leaving only the taste of bitter chocolate.
The color of the infusion is expressive, rich, has a bronze-amber hue and becomes lighter as the infusions increase.
Da HongPao 1 "NongXiang" withstands 7 steepings, gives a fresh, slightly sweet aftertaste, leaving the taste of bitter chocolate, roasted coffee in the mouth.
This variety is best enjoyed in a teapot made of porous Yisin clay, but a porcelain gaiwan will also work well.
This tea gently tones the body, gives strength, has a calming effect, puts thoughts in order, and helps create a warm, friendly atmosphere in the company.
The Big Red Robe is a strong roasted tea, more of a men's tea, as it has its own strong and bold character. This tea is well suited for lovers of Wuyi oolongs, those who are looking for a bright and powerful taste with character.
