Chinese: 福鼎市立达茶厂
Pinyin: Fú dǐng shì lì dá chá chǎng
Translation: Tea Factory "Lida"
Lida Tea Factory was founded in 1985. It is a family company that unites four generations. The founder, Mr. Zhou Qihong (Chinese: 周起鸿, pinyin: zhōu qǐhóng) 1894-1954, was born in the last years of the Qing Dynasty, during the era of turmoil, famine and unrest. He worked from dawn to dusk on tea plantations, growing and processing tea trees with his own hands. The tea gardens mainly consisted of raw materials for white tea Fuding (Chinese: 华茶№1) and Dahaocha (Chinese: 大毫茶№2). These trees were mainly used to produce teas that were especially popular in Southeast Asia, such as Baihao Yinzhen (Chinese: 白毫银针, pinyin: báiháo yínzhēn), Bai Mudan (Chinese: 白牡丹, pinyin: bái mǔdān), Bailin Gongfu (Chinese: 白琳功夫, pinyin: báilín gōngfu)
The second generation, Mr. Zhou Jizhou (Chinese: 周聚洲, pinyin: zhōu jùzhōu) 1927-2006, took over his father's career. During the New China period (after the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949), the government made a major contribution to the development of local tea by encouraging the establishment of new plantations. After Zhou Jizhou's retirement in 1985, the company faced fierce market competition, inconvenient transportation, and fires, which eventually led to the threat of bankruptcy and closure.
In 1988, the third generation, Zhou Derong (Chinese: 周德荣, pinyin: zhōu déróng) and Zhou Zongyou (Chinese: 周宗佑, pinyin: zhōu zōngyòu), came to Guangzhou to revive the family business. After 25 years of hard work, the brand's tea exports have spread all over the world. The fourth generation maintains the family values.
