Meeting of the Tea Culture Club "Tea Line" to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
January 23, 2012 was marked for us by two significant events at once: firstly, on this day all of China celebrates the New Year according to the lunar calendar, and secondly, on this day the long-awaited first meeting of the Tea Culture Club "Tea Line" finally took place. The meeting, of course, was dedicated to the coming year of the water dragon.
How it was…
Without further ado, we started with what a dragon represents according to the Chinese calendar, and the first water began to boil in the kettle...
We started treating our friends with Long Jing, which is not surprising - after all, the name of this tea translates as "dragon well"! At the same time, we told the most famous legend about the birth of this wonderful green tea.
After that, Alisa Pyaterikova taught us a very interesting Chinese game, the essence of which was that players take turns calling out numbers starting with one. And all the numbers multiple of seven and ending with seven need to be tracked, calling out such numbers in any other language. There was Kazakh, Chinese, English, and attempts at German.
Then it was time to move and Roma introduced us to a team game called "Samurai, Dragon, Princess". The battle was 6x6 and I think it looked cool from the outside!
The most important part of the event has begun! The competition consists of two stages with prizes for the finalists. In the first part, the participants drew the hieroglyph "dragon" in its old version on real rice paper, with real calligraphy brushes.
Then our special guest from China chose two of the most correct and beautiful hieroglyphs,
and our two finalists Alisa and Natasha made it to the second round of the competition, where they had to compete in their knowledge of oolong tea varieties. After all, oolong means "black dragon" in translation. Meanwhile, we tasted the famous Da Hong Pao, Shu Pu'er, Tie Guan Yin and Feng Huang Dan Cong ;)
The beautiful girls received the most worthy prizes from the Tea Line. Congratulations!
Our evening ended with firecrackers, delicious cake and distribution of red dragons!
Many thanks to all friends and guests, our Tea Culture Club can now be considered open!!!
PS: We would like to express our gratitude for their help in holding and organizing the event to Roman Uglev, Artem Rublev, Alisa Pyaterikova, Dmitry Debelov and Alexander Golenkov! Xièxiè nǐmen!
