Title: Sagan-Daylya with a flower
Place of raw material growth: Orlik village, Republic of Buryatia, Russia
Rhododendron adamsii, or sagan-daylya, is an evergreen plant of the genus Rhododendron of the Heather family. Its distribution area begins from the Far East and Sakhalin Island and passes through the Western and Eastern Sayan Mountains to the north-east of the foothills of Tibet. Depending on the geography of the place of growth, the name of the rhododendron adamsii also changes. The most famous are "fragrant wild rosemary", "Belogorsky tea", "dal-gabro", "da-li". But its most popular name is "sagan-daylya" or "sakhandalya", which is translated as "white wing". It is widely used in folk medicine in Tibet.
The leaves of Sagan-Dali have an interesting color - they are matte green on top and reddish underneath. The flowers are beautiful, soft or bright pink. But the aroma deserves a special mention - it reveals a whole palette from sour-floral and sweet-woody to ethereal-coniferous. When brewed, the aroma becomes very intense. The infusion has a pleasant, sour taste.
Ideal for both brewing on its own and adding to tea. Since sagan-daylya is very active in aroma, its consumption is very small - 2-3 leaves per 500 ml of water.
