Zhu Ye Qing is a variety of lightly fermented green tea classified as flat. Its name derives largely from the visual resemblance of the dried tea to bamboo shoots. It grows on the summit of Mount Emei in Sichuan Province, a sacred site for Buddhists. The plantations themselves are located at an impressive altitude of 800-1200 meters above sea level. This place not only impresses with the beauty of its natural landscapes but is also renowned for its historical monuments of Chinese culture. These include the Black Water Monastery, Bailong Cave, and the Tower of Pure Sound.
The tea-growing region is surrounded by mountains, constantly shrouded in mist. Emerald-colored forests complete this enigmatic scene. Thanks to its beauty, Mount Emei has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This pristine natural environment allows for the cultivation of green tea with impeccable flavor and valuable properties.
How did the history of this aromatic tea begin?
Of the many versions of Zhu Ye Qing tea's origins, this is the most plausible. The drink's history began in April 1964, when Chen Yi (then Minister of Foreign Affairs) was traveling through Sichuan. Deciding to stop at Mount Emei, his delegation visited the Wan Niansi Monastery. The monks treated the minister to a fragrant tea. Chen Yi was so impressed by its taste and aroma that he gave this green tea its original name: Fresh Bamboo Leaves. Since then, the drink has become very popular not only in China but also abroad.
Now everyone can enjoy the purity and freshness of taste!
As you breathe through the neat, glossy leaves, you can't help but feel the rich, subtle aroma of apricot, melon, mango, green peas, and wildflowers.
The taste of brewed green tea is very fresh, velvety, and light. The flavor offers notes of fruit, cooked peas, and wild herbs. As the steeping process progresses, the citrusy tartness intensifies, along with a slight bitterness that quickly transitions to freshness.
The infusion is light green, clear, and pure. The aftertaste is refreshing, moderately sweet, and herbaceous and fruity.
This tea has a significant tonic effect, improves mental performance, promotes communication, balances overall well-being, and lifts mood. It quenches thirst and cools the body somewhat, which is especially necessary during the hot summer months.
Zhu Ye Qing is a superb, premium quality Chinese tea for a special tea experience that is a must-try for any lover of green Chinese tea.
