Dong Ding Oolong (Chinese: 凍頂烏龍, pinyin: Dòng dǐng wū lóng) is a unique Taiwanese tea known for its distinctive flavor and aroma. The tea's name translates as "Frosty Peak" or "Icy Mist from the Mountain Peaks," reflecting the unique nature of its growing region.
Dong Ding Oolong tea bushes were brought to Taiwan from Fujian Province in China over 150 years ago. Legend has it that the tea's name derives from an emperor who, while sheltering from a storm in the mountains, was warmed and charmed by the taste of the tea offered to him by locals.
Region: Dong Ding Oolong tea is grown in the Alishan mountain range at an altitude of 700-1200 meters above sea level.
