Huang Guanyin , or " Yellow Bodhisattva of Compassion" (Chinese: 黄观音, pinyin: Huáng Guān Yīn), is an oolong tea native to the famous Wuyi Mountains in Fujian Province, China. It belongs to the "cliff oolong" (yan cha) category and is considered one of the most prized tea varieties.
Huang Guanyin was developed in 1997 by crossing two other oolongs: Tie Guan Yin and Huang Dan. It was named after the Bodhisattva Guanyin, whose image is often associated with mercy and compassion.
Taste and aroma:
Aroma: Huang Guanyin has a delicate, floral aroma with notes of honey, orchid, peach and apricot.
Taste: The infusion has a light golden color, a soft (Chinese: 醇厚, pinyin: chún hòu) taste, full, rich, balanced, with fruity, floral and honey notes.
