Da Hong Pao: The King of Chinese Teas
Da Hong Pao (Chinese: 大紅袍, pinyin: Dà Hóng páo) is a Chinese cliff tea produced in the northwest of Fujian Province, in the Wuyi Mountains (Chinese: 武夷山, pinyin: wǔyíshān). It is classified as a semi-fermented oolong tea. This is not just a tea, it is a legend shrouded in mystery and revered as a treasure of Chinese tea culture. Legend has it that once an emperor, escaping from bad weather, took shelter under one of these bushes. When he woke up, he felt much better, and since then tea from these bushes has been considered an imperial drink.
