Baxian Dan Cong: Eight Immortals of Oolongs
Ba Xian Dan Cong Kit (八仙单丛, pinyin bāxiān dāncōng) is one of the most revered and respected varieties of oolong from Guangdong province. Its name translates as "Eight Immortal Single Bushes" and is associated with the legend of eight seedlings that gave rise to this variety.
The upright varietal tree grows on Mount Wudong. The mineral-rich soil of this area makes this variety one of the most valuable subspecies with a floral-honey aroma. Externally, Basian is large, longitudinally twisted leaves of a dark color with light green flashes. Tea production begins with drying, then they move on to the process of withering with an air flow on special equipment. After the cold drying process, light roasting begins, then kneading and finally drying over coals. This modern processing technology allows you to preserve the unrivaled floral aroma of tea.
History and origin
The history of Ba Xian Dan Cong begins at the end of the 19th century. In 1898, a local farmer planted tea, in which only eight seedlings took root. It was from these eight bushes that the history of this unique variety began.
