The variety of bush used to grow the raw material is called "Ying Hong Diu Hao" (Chinese: 英红九号, pinyin: yīng hóng jiǔ háo, Russian: "Yingde Red No. 9"). Ying Hong Diu Hao is a hybrid of the Yunnan large-leaved bush (Chinese: 云南大叶, pinyin: yúnnán dà yè) and Fenghuang Shuixian (Chinese: 凤凰水仙, pinyin: fènghuáng shuǐxiān). The official geoprotected label, which designates a specific area for production, was assigned on December 31, 2006. It means that only tea produced in Guangdong Province, Yingde County, 11245' - 11355' east longitude, 2350' - 2433' north latitude, can be considered as such tea.
Description of taste and aroma:
Yingde Hongcha tea leaves are dense, with an oily, delicate, and even color. The tea contains varying amounts of buds covered in golden hairs. This varies depending on the tea grade. The aroma of the dried tea leaf is sweet and rich, with fruity and floral notes. When infused, the fruity aroma gains woody notes without losing its intensity. The flavor is distinctive and nectarine, with a bouquet of pollen and honey notes. The infusion is amber-red, with a lingering aftertaste.
Guangdong Red Yingde Hong Cha definitely has a unique style that you will remember.
