Wild Old White Tea 2016: A Treasure from the Wild
Wild Old White Tea (Chinese: 荒野老白茶, pinyin: Huāngyě lǎo báichá) literally translates as "wild old white tea" - this is a truly unique and valuable type of tea. Its peculiarity lies in the fact that the raw materials for it are collected from wild tea trees growing in remote, hard-to-reach areas of Yunnan Province. And aging for 8 years gives this tea a unique, deep taste and aroma.
The tea leaves for this cake were collected in 2016. The wild tea trees from which they were collected grow in harsh mountain conditions, which gives the tea special strength and energy. After collection, the leaves were minimally processed to preserve all the beneficial substances and natural taste.
Why is it so valuable?
- Package: The cake is wrapped in paper with a mountain landscape on it, indicating that the tea was picked from tea trees growing in the mountainous regions of Yunnan Province, known for its favorable climate and soil.
- Rare variety: Wild white tea is one of the rarest and most valuable tea varieties in the world. Its production is limited, as collecting leaves from wild trees is a very labor-intensive process.
- Aging: Aging for 8 years allowed the tea to acquire a softer, rounder taste and a complex aroma with notes of dried fruits, nuts and wood.
- Health Benefits: Wild white tea is rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. It helps strengthen the immune system, improve digestion and reduce stress.
Taste and aroma
The taste of this tea is difficult to describe in words. It combines sweetness, sourness and slight bitterness. You can feel notes of dried fruits, nuts, wood and honey in it. The aroma of the tea is very rich and multifaceted, it resembles the smell of an autumn forest.
Pancake shape
The tea is pressed into a 350 gram cake. This shape allows the tea to mature slowly and reveal its aromas. In addition, the cake is easy to store and transport.
How to brew?
To brew this tea, it is better to use water at a temperature of 85-90 degrees. The brewing time depends on your preferences, but usually ranges from 30 seconds to several minutes. This tea can be brewed several times, each time discovering new shades of taste.
