Daxueshan Tea Region
The Daxueshan Mountains (Chinese: 大雪山, pinyin: dàxuěshān) rise majestically in Shuangjiang County of Mengku City, west of the Lancang River (Mekong). Literally translated, Daxueshan means big snow mountain. This name fully justifies itself, as snow periodically falls on the peaks of Daxueshan.
Distance to the county center is 19 km. This is the cradle of large leaf tea Mengku . The middle part of the mountains is at an altitude of 2200-2750 m above sea level and it is difficult for people to penetrate into the virgin forests. Now wild tea trees have been found at high altitudes, the age of most is estimated at over 1000 years. At an altitude of 2200-2750 m, the average temperature is 11 degrees, the amount of precipitation is 2000 mm, the soil is yellow-brown clay with a high content of organic matter. The wild tea plantations of Daxueshan are the highest and densely planted, occupying an area of about 12,000 mu.
There are two types of trees growing here: Dali (Chinese: 大理茶种, pinyin: Dàlǐ chá zhǒng) and Changguo (Chinese: 长果大头茶种, pinyin: сhǎng guǒ dàtóu chá zhǒng). The trunks of old trees are about 40 cm thick and the average height is 5 m, but there are specimens with a trunk thickness of 215 cm and a height of about 25 m.

Areas of the Da Xue Shan Mountains
Daxueshan is one of the three major tea regions of Lincang. There are several areas where tea is collected. chinese puer tea :
Mengku Daxueshan (Chinese: 勐库大雪山, pinyin: Měng kù dà xuěshān) is located in the northwestern part of Shuangjiang County, it belongs to the western slope. The highest point is 3233 m, at an altitude of 2200 m virgin forests begin, below 2200 there are villages and towns: Xiaohusa, Dahusai, Dongguo and others.
Bandong Daxueshan (Chinese: 邦东大雪山, pinyin: Bāng dōng dà xuěshān) is located in the northeast of Lincang County, on the west bank of the Mekong. It is 19 km from the district center, stretching from south to north for 24 km, with an area of 160 square kilometers. The top of the mountain is at an altitude of 3233.5 m. Tea from here has a lower theine content, and tea near the Mekong has a higher content.
Yongde Daxueshan (Chinese: 永德大雪山, pinyin: Yǒng dé dà xuěshān) is located on the Biluoxueshan Mountain Range (Chinese: 碧罗雪山, pinyin: Bì luō xuěshān) near the Nujiang River to the west of Lincang City, the mountain range extends from northwest to southeast, from south to east for 24 km, from east to west for 15.6 km. The total area is 300 square kilometers, the peak is 3429 m. The taste of the local puer is too strong, the price is low, usually from this raw material they produce shu puer .
Many people say that Lincang County has the fourth Daxueshan, which is Fengqing Daxueshan (Chinese: 凤庆大雪山, pinyin: Fèng qìng dà xuěshān), but in this county, small and medium-sized tea leaves predominate, and therefore, for the people of this area, pu-erh tea production is not the main industry, so this area is not taken into account.
